May a reserve two tickets in a sleeping car in the EN 477 Metropol/2032 from prague to vienna? How much it costs?

Pavel Hajek - info(at)czech-transport.com - 2009-02-24

Hello Elisa,

we do not make the reservations. Buy the tickets at the train station when you get to Prague or try one of the online booking servers mentioned above.

I am adding the recent prices of Czech overnight trains (sleepers) from Prague to Vienna. This is what you have to pay extra beside the regular train ticket (prices are in EUR):

bed bed bed
3p coupé 2p coupé 1p coupé
26,– 39,– 91,–

Couchettes are not available.

Kris - kjayner(at)msn.com - 2009-03-25

Is the price above (the extra fee for a sleeper) per person? So, for a 2p coupe, $39 pp? Thanks.

Pavel Hajek - info(at)czech-transport.com - 2009-03-25

Yes, it is.

Hi,

I need to buy a ticket to go from Praha (on the 2nd of May)through Brno to Vienna (on the 8th of May). I will be staying in Brno from the 2nd to the 8th of May. Is there a ticket to cover all that or do I need to buy separately? How do I make the purchase online/by phone?

Thanks! Roni

Pavel Hajek - info(at)czech-transport.com - 2009-04-07

Buy two separate tickets: Prague – Brno and Brno – Vienna. You can do it the day you travel from Prague to Brno.

If you want to do it online, you can visit one of the servers above in the section Book & buy tickets online.

Good morning,

I'm going to be in Prague next month and then we will go to Vienna. I would like to confirm with what is the best way to buy tickets (internet or in the train station) and what are the discounts that may apply (we are 25 and 27 years old).

Do you think that there's a risk that there are no longer tickets when we get there? We will arrive in Prague on May 22 and will be leaving to Vienna on May 26?

Thank you very much.

Joana

Hi,

I would like to know how much cost a train ticket for EC 73 Franz Schubert if I buy it from the station and not online. I just want to know if it's more cheaper this way and how much.

Thanks, Marius

Pavel Hajek - info(at)czech-transport.com - 2009-05-27

The cost is 37,80 EUR (single one way ticket).

Carmen Lee - menghuilee(at)hotmail.com - 2009-05-28

I plan to travel from Prague to Vienna this coming end of sept. Can i know what is the total price for overnight train? Is it 48+39= 87 euro per person? And the morning train cost 37.80 euro? How can I get the 19euro ticket? Thanks for your help.

Pavel Hajek - info(at)czech-transport.com - 2009-05-29

Carmen Lee:
Overnight train cost per person 37,8 EUR (ticket) + bed supplement (in 2p coupé it's 39 EUR).

As for the cheaper ticket, there is a link in the comment of Stephan. But this is something like action price (few tickets for selected trains). You might not be able to get it for overnight train.

murat - muradseker(at)gmail.com - 2009-06-02

I want to take the train from Prague to Vienna on Mid July (EC 73 Franz Schubert train). What is the possibility of not finding any ticket for that train if I go to train station 2 days before my actual travel day? A second question is, can I buy tickets somewhere in the city? Thank you very much in advance. Murat

Pavel Hajek - info(at)czech-transport.com - 2009-06-02

murat:
I think 2 days is OK. As for the tickets, you can buy them only at the train station (such as Prague main railway station or Prague Holesovice station)

Pooky - pv312(at)yahoo.com - 2009-06-15

Hello

We are a group of 9 senior people and will take a high speed train from praque to budapest on 25th Sept. Could you pls advise the cost of one way ticket (1st and 2nd), the time etc.? Do we have to book in advance? Best regards Pooky

Pavel Hajek - info(at)czech-transport.com - 2009-06-16

The cheapest solution is to buy the tickets at the train station and ask for a group discount for groups of 6 and more. The discount is around 30% from regular fare (37,8 EUR). Additional 8 EUR is obligatory for reservation in the Pendolino trains.

Is there any way to save money in reserving 2 way ticket from praha to wien and the second way is from wien to praha on 6th July? And we would like to take the overnight train? do it have discount for students? Do we need to book it in advance? Thanks for your help!

Chih-Hsien Lin

Pavel Hajek - info(at)czech-transport.com - 2009-06-22

Lin: If you buy a return ticket you will get a discount (approx. 30%) but there is no discount for students. As a student, you can buy an Eurail Student Pass. Advance booking is not required but I recommend buying the tickets when you get to Prague – especially if you want to go in a night train.

We are looking at Vienna – Prague return leaving Vienna 22nd August and returning to Vienna 26th August , we land in Vienna on the 20th August. Will travel on the 10.00 am morning train, is it possibble to book in advance or will there be tickets available in that time frame at the station in Vienna? We live in Sydney AUS

Ralf - ralfrodriguez(at)gmail.com - 2009-06-29

I need information and tips regarding the check in process to board the SC train from Prague to Vienna when one already has the ticket and seat reservation. How long before the train departure time shall I arrive at the station? Is it necessary to go through document or luggage check or does one simply board the train at the time of departure? I would appreciate any further details to ensure I will not miss the train.

Pavel Hajek - info(at)czech-transport.com - 2009-06-29

Glenn: For sure you will be able to buy the tickets in Vienna.

Pavel Hajek - info(at)czech-transport.com - 2009-06-29

Ralf: Actually there is no checkin process so if you have the tickets you can jump into the train when it's already leaving :)

Davigh - davigh.karamanoukian(at)lau.edu.lb - 2009-06-30

Hello, I have two questions. First, I will be arriving to Prague on July 9 at 6am after a 4 hour flight from Lebanon. I am planning to visit a friend in Vienna the same day and come back to Prague on the 11th. So what's the best way to travel?(train or bus?) and which is cheapest knowing that I have an ISIC and I'm under 25. Can you please tell me exact prices? Second, I am wondering whether I will be able to find a ticket from the station on the same day. What do you advise? should I book online or buy it from the station? Thank you.

Pavel Hajek - info(at)czech-transport.com - 2009-06-30

Davigh: The cheapest is the bus (20 EUR) for sure I recommend you booking the tickets in advance – see the article about bus from Prague to Vienna. If you go by train, advance booking is not usually necessary as the trains have more capacity.

pooky - pv312(at)yahoo.com - 2009-07-13

Hello Could you pls let me know how much the 1st and 2nd class of the group tickets for the high speed trains from Praha to Vienna is? Is the eurail pass valid for Pendolino? Thank you.

Pavel Hajek - info(at)czech-transport.com - 2009-07-14

pooky: regular price per person is approx. 47 EUR 2nd class and 69 EUR 1st class (including seat reservation 8 EUR). For a group of 6 and more there is discount around 30% (does not apply on seat reservation). Eurail pass is AFAIK valid but for sure you will have to pay seat reservation (which is obligatory for all Pendolinos)

If you are a bigger group you might consider using our transfer service between Prague and Vienna which could be cheaper than taking a train.

Nick - jewell(at)berkeley.edu - 2009-07-31

My wife and I plan to travel from Prague to Vienna on August 27 in the morning, perhaps the 10:57am train. Can we buy tickets once we are in Prague (say on August 24?) or even on the day of travel? What is the cost of Ist and 2nd class tickets? Is there a big difference between 1st and 2nd class?

Ivana Novotna - info(at)czech-transport.com - 2009-08-02

Hi Nick, tickets are available at the train station and are never sold out. Trains are leaving regurarly, so no booking in advance is needed. One-way ticket without any discounts costs 1099 CZK (+- 39 EUR), when traveling with Pendolino, you pay for the obligatory seat reservation extra 200 CZK (8 EUR) for second class. First class – 60 EUR. Yes, in first class you get better services.

I've a flight from Prague to Amsterdam leaving on 15.30 pm. I will be departing from Vienna on that day. Is it advisable to go a day before to buy the tickets of the train from Vienna to Prague? What is the earliest train and is it a direct train and how long does it take? Thank you

Ivana Novotna - info(at)czech-transport.com - 2009-08-12

Hello Choong, the earliest train is EC 378 Carl Maria von Weber departing from Vienna at 05:58, getting to Prague Holesovice at 10:29. Possibility to travel with overnight train, I would recommend you to travel day before your flight to avoid the possibility of missed flight connection.

Choong - wschoong2000(at)yahoo.com - 2009-08-19

Hi, After reading all the comments above, is the following true:-

  1. Buying tickets online and at the station, the price is the same?
  2. EC73 from Prague to Vienna, if i book online its Euro17 one way or Euro37.80?
  3. the reason I am asking is i read that there will be a Micheal Jackson tribute concert in Vienna on the same weekend I am planning to visit Vienna and hence I thought it might be beneficial to book the tickets early?

thanks.

Ivana Novotna - info(at)czech-transport.com - 2009-08-19

Hi Choong,

as far as I see, EC73 is for 496 CZK, approx. 20 EUR. If you buy ticket at the train station – One-way ticket without any discounts costs 1099 CZK (+- 40 EUR), in the Pendolino you pay for the obligatory seat reservation extra 200 CZK (8 EUR). That means, buying tickets online is cheaper but you have to register an account first. For the Michael Jakson tribute concert I would definitely buy tickets in advance. Unfortunatelly, Ceske drahy do not allow you to buy tickets online three months in advance, you will have to wait till September or buy them directly.

Choong - wschoong2000(at)yahoo.com - 2009-08-20

Thanks Ivana.

Choong - wschoong2000(at)yahoo.com - 2009-08-20

I have managed to get EC73 for 25 September 2009 travel for 496 CZK (Euro 19.84). Thanks for all the help guys and gals!

Choong - wschoong2000(at)yahoo.com - 2009-08-20

oh…with the printed PDF ticket..is there a requirement to validate the ticket before i board the train (like on the italian trains)?

Ivana Novotna - info(at)czech-transport.com - 2009-08-20

I would recommend you to print your ticket out and keep it with you. It is not necessary to validate your ticket once you have all information on it.

Pooky - pv312(at)yahoo.com - 2009-08-21
